Wer gerne mit der Versionsverwaltung git arbeitet, kennt das Problem bestimmt. In welchem Branch befinde ich mich eigentlich aktuell? Natürlich kann das ganz einfach mit dem command
git branch
herausgefunden werden. Dennoch finde ich es Persönlich schöner wenn der Branch im Terminal gleich mit angezeigt wird.
Ein paar wenige Zeilen Code in der .bashrc sorgen genau dafür.
Die .bashrc befindet sich im home folder
cd ~
atom ./.bashrc
statt atom kann auch jeder andere Editor verwendet werden z.B vi, vim, geany…
In die nun geöffnete .bashrc werden folgende Zeilen hinzugefügt:

Es ist sinnvoll alte PS1 Einstellungen auszukommentieren oder zu löschen. Zum auskommentieren reicht es # an den Anfang der Zeile zu setzen.
Bei mir sieht der Auskommentierte Teil dann so aus:

Nun sollte nach einem Neustart des Terminals oder in einer neu geöffneten Sitzung der aktuelle Branch (siehe Bild) mit angezeigt werden. Natürlich nur wenn der Ordner ein Git-Projekt ist.
